Zero Examining Pictures New ways are forthcoming. Out of fashion, kicked out, it kept a low profile only to return in triumph. But while it has been: challenged, attacked, dismissed and subverted, it has never been forgotten. You will be asked, "What does 'it' consist of? What's it all about?" After a succession of attempts to answer there is a white space. In fact, there are an endless number of answers. A butterfly, - pinned, hung on the wall. Freezing the moment of death. After the sensation, the shock of the new, an electric chair, and a still life - all this and more - after running the gamut of formal strategies. Sexy. Sexy. Enter the future, eternity. All that time! Time and duration. Ahhh! What would time be without it? What is, inescapable, is inescapable! But is eternity just a blank space? Time will tell. Is the blank space unavoidable like an obstacle? Do we invade the blank space, or are we invited in? Is the blank space nothing at all? Does it still exist in this overcrowded world? Is the blank space dead? No, the blank space is still one of the most radical spaces in which to make conceptual jokes. Try doing anything in an occupied space. Knock, knock. Who's there? Can I come in? No. This space is occupied! It's closed to the public. A cultural commentator calls out, "Where do you stand?" There is an announcement by another cultural commentator. "This is a Free Zone." This is the conflictorial relationship to the white space, it's boundaries, and it's history. There is mounting claustrophobia where characters are locked in doomed situations. White spaces, black holes, whatever next? Slots. Slots have been created. Other big plans will be revealed in due course. These were the, very occasions of history in the making. All this has been conceived in collaboration with leading cultural provocateurs - zero, zero, zero. Everyone is liberated from the rhetoric of one 'ism' or another - for all time. How nice - a toast to the future. To the future! Into the future - bad news! You will be challenged by a cultural commentator. "Visual literacy is becoming important in the digital age. Are you visually literate? Do you understand? We listen to what is relevant in the cultural climate, we celebrate being around art, we tell you it exhilarates, and profoundly transforms a population. Artists are the litmus test, you know.
